Would you trust Halfords with your car? We wouldn’t trust them to sharpen our pencils, but soon you’ll be able to have your motor repaired by the folks who sold you your first bike. The retailer has just paid over £73 million for Nationwide Autocentres, meaning over 200 of the outlets will be rebranded as Halfords Autocentres.
Think about the price of petrol at around 95p a litre at the pump, before VAT, the price would be 82.6p, before fuel duty of 54.2p, the price would be 28.4p. So, just 28.4p goes to pay for the drilling, pumping, refining, delivery the fuel and the petrol stations. Out of the 95p you pay at the pump, 66.6p goes to Gordon Brown ! ! !
