2011 BMW M5 Spied Testing in the cold

The big brands are all out there in the cold testing their automobiles to adjudge how well they will perform once they hit the factory floor. The latest catch is the 2011 BMW M5 more specifically known as the BMW M5 F10.

BMW M5 F10 Spied 1

The heavily camouflaged traction-control test mule reveals sculpted door panels and side sills along with a kidney grille. Other exterior and interior traits of the mid-segment emperor have been nicely clad but what are already public are the details of its 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine. The plant under the hood churns 578hp at 531-lb-ft of torque which helps the upcoming M5 reach 100km/h in 4.4 seconds. Compare this 0 to 100km/h timing with the E60 M5 and you will discover that the next-gen model is 0.3 seconds quicker. The 2011 model will also feature a version of the kinetic energy recovery system which will improve the overall efficiency by 30% help the M5 F10 achieve 24mpg when the sedan hits the road in Spring next year.
