Aston Martin Cygnet, Based on Toyota iQ, to Roll Out in 2011

Aston Martin has confirmed that they will launch the Cygnet, based on Toyota’s iQ. Te car will be Aston Martin’s response to the fuel economy and emissions standards that are being set now – and will come out in 2011. This will be an offering that will not compromise on its performance, but will satisfy the new demands of space and emissions.

The engine is likely to be a 1.33-liter petrol engine with 97 hp (72 kW / 98 PS) and 91 lb-ft (123 Nm) of torque, which would give the car a combined 55 mpg (UK) and emit 120 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The Cygnet was shown as a concept in March and is in the luxury city car category. Aston Martin says that with this car they will be responding to the needs of the customers who need a compact car for urban and city use, which still has the Aston martin personality. The Cygnet measures at 3 meters in length – helping city users to deal with tight parking and city traffic.
Each car will be hand-finished and unique, luxurious and compact – embodying the idea of ‘luxury not being constrained by scale’. More details like price and specification will be out during this year.
