Ferrari’s SA Aperta First Details Revealed

The first photos and details of the SA APERTA – the drop top version of the 599 has been revealed by Ferrari. The car looks like one following in the proud traditions of a real roadster.

The design is a removable soft top, which the company specifies should be used only in particularly bad weather. Among other alterations to the body is a lower-angled windscreen, integrated roll-bars flanked by aerodynamic fins and a lowered suspension.

The absence of the roof has been balanced by stiffening the chassis, which has not significantly added to the weight of the car.

The company has said that production will be limited to 80 units, and all of these have been pre-sold. The number 80 is a tribute to Pininfarina, styling firm and long time Ferrari partner, who is celebrating their 80th anniversary. The SA nomenclature on the vehicle also pays tribute to Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina.

The vehicle is equipped with the 6.0-liter V12 producing 670 PS (493 kW / 661 bhp), the same as the recently announced 599 GTO, the road-going version of the 599XX track car.

The SA Aperta will make its public debut in Paris next week, say reports.
