NHTSA May Impose Another Fine on Toyota for Pedal Recall Delay

Toyota Prius hybrid

If the credit crunch didn’t hurt Toyota much, the recalls had! The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has already slammed Toyota with a $16.4 million for a delaying a recall and the new is that NHSTA is planning on another imposition. NHSTA is already angry about the delay in recalling the vehicles and matters have worsened as the agency is annoyed with the report that a Japanese Toyota executive sent a letter last October ordering that engineering changes to accelerator pedals not be carried out in America. Toyota hasn’t uttered a word about contesting the first fine which could have reached $13.8 million if fully levied. We will know more about the second one in a matter of days for sure.
