Volkswagen Drives in the 100,000th Scirocco III

Engineers at the Volkswagen Autoeuropa plant in Portugal were in a festive mood, when the 100,000th Scirocco III was rolled off the assembly line. The model, a Scirocco R 2.0 TSI, is a third generation model of the Scirocco hatchback which was launched by Volkswagen in the year1974. Since the day it was launched, Scirocco was one of the hottest cars in the market all thanks to its fabulous looks.

The 100,000th model has a Rising Blue Metallic finish, with a Titan Black interior. It comes equipped with a GPS navigation system, reverse parking sensors and a tilting sunroof. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, with 265 PS (195 kW / 261 bhp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, that allows it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds.

“The Scirocco is one of the most important cars that we produce. For myself personally, it was a moving moment”, said Andreas Hinrichs, the Autoeuropa Plant Manager. The plant has been producing the third generation of the Scirocco since 2008. Now with 3000 employees it also has the production of the Volkswagen Eos and the new Sharan. Take a look at the gallery:
